Detailed Product Overview
The 3288 clamp meter measures AC and DC current up to 1000 A. With current ranges of 100 A and 1000 A, the instrument is suited for checking load currents in electrical installations as well as in machines and equipment.
Current measurement is performed using the clamp, allowing conductors to be measured directly without opening the circuit. This enables quick verification of currents in supply lines, motor connections and distribution circuits. The clamp accepts insulated conductors up to 35 mm in diameter.
Electrical measurement functions
In addition to current measurement, the instrument measures voltage up to 600 V AC/DC. Resistance measurement and continuity testing are available through the test leads, allowing electrical connections and circuits to be checked. For DC current measurement, a zero adjustment can be performed to compensate the sensor before measurement. Measurement ranges can be selected automatically or manually.
Voltage, resistance and continuity measurements are performed using the included L9208 test leads. The optional 9209 Test Lead Holder allows one test lead to be attached to the rear of the instrument so the clamp meter can be held in one hand while both probe tips are placed on the measurement points.
Safety and application range
The safety category depends on the measurement method. Current measurement using the clamp is rated for CAT III 600 V. Voltage and resistance measurements using test leads are rated for CAT III 300 V or CAT II 600 V.
This makes the instrument suitable for measurements in electrical installations within buildings, for example in distribution panels, machine connections or equipment circuits. Like all HIOKI clamp meters, clamp multimeters and current probes, the 3288 is manufactured in HIOKI’s own production facilities in Japan.
