    Detailed Product Overview

The PD3129 is a non-contact digital phase rotation tester for checking phase order and detecting live lines in three-phase networks. In many three-phase applications it is also referred to as a phase sequence tester or phase indicator. Thanks to its non-contact clips, the instrument allows measurements directly on insulated conductors without stripping wires or exposing live parts. This makes testing faster, safer, and also possible in situations where direct electrical contact would normally require higher qualifications or additional protective measures.

For smaller conductors, CAT III rated

The clips accept conductor diameters from 2.4 mm to 17 mm. With its CAT III 600 V rating, the PD3129 is ideal for residential buildings and small commercial installations, including distribution panels, switchboards, circuit breakers, and permanently installed loads. By contrast, the sister model PD3129-10 with its larger clips and CAT IV 600 V / CAT III 1000 V rating is designed for industrial environments with thicker cables. When all three phases are connected, the PD3129 indicates whether the phase sequence R–S–T is correct or reversed. With correct sequence, a green arrow lights up, four red LEDs rotate in sequence, and a short beep sounds every second. With reversed sequence, the device emits a continuous tone, while the green arrow and rotating LEDs remain off.

    Hands-free operation

For hands-free operation, the PD3129 can be attached to switchboard doors or distribution panels using the built-in rear magnets. With approx. 200 hours of continuous operation from two AA batteries, it is a reliable everyday tool for electricians and service technicians.

The PD3129 was designed in Japan and is also manufactured in Japan at HIOKI’s own factories, ensuring the highest standards of precision, reliability, and lasting accuracy.
