ESD

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity testing is essential to ensure the proper operation of electronic equipment when accidentally exposed to electrostatic interference. These discharges can occur during normal equipment handling or operation in an environment with high levels of static electricity.

What does ESD testing involve?

ESD testing simulates the effect of electrostatic discharges on a variety of device surfaces and interfaces, including:

Direct discharge to equipment surfaces.
Indirect discharge to nearby metal objects.
Discharges to input/output interfaces, such as connectors or cables.

Our ESD testing solutions

We offer high quality ESD generators from AMETEK CTS that meet the requirements of industrial and automotive standards:

  • For industrial standards: the generators allow ESD testing up to 16 kV according to standards such as IEC 61000-4-2.
  • For automotive standards: extended range generators allow testing up to 30 kV as required by automotive standards such as ISO 10605.
